Building Our Communities Globally
In 2007, Manulife Financial donated more than $25 million to assist more than 600 non-profit organizations around the world. Our support focused on community-building in four main areas: health care, education, community service and local volunteering. These broad categories allow Manulife to address specific needs in various locations around the globe.  Contributions came in the form of employee time, cash donations and sponsorships. Nearly 18,000 Manulife employees donated more than 58,000 hours of their time to support community partners in numerous ways, including running; rowing or walking for health-related charities; mentoring students; planting trees; building houses; and participating in blood drives. Local managers choose the area of focus for philanthropy, identify partners and determine how best to encourage employee involvement.
